Lower School Curriculum
The Reece Lower School follows the New York State (NYS) curriculum for grades K through 6 and is designed to provide a comprehensive education across multiple subject areas, building a strong foundation for students:

English Language Arts (ELA): In the early grades, students focus on developing foundational reading and writing skills. This includes learning phonics, sight words, basic reading comprehension, and beginning writing skills.
Mathematics: Basic math concepts are introduced, including counting, addition, subtraction, number recognition, and understanding simple math relationships. Students begin to explore shapes and measurements.
Science: Early science education often includes topics related to living things, earth and space, and basic scientific exploration.
Social Studies: Social studies topics in the early grades can include basic concepts related to communities, geography, and an introduction to history.

Science: Students delve deeper into scientific topics, exploring life sciences, physical sciences, earth and space sciences, and often engage in hands-on experiments.
Social Studies: Social studies curriculum expands to include topics such as U.S. history, world geography, civics, and in-depth exploration of various historical eras and cultures.
Art and Music: Creative arts curriculum continues to provide opportunities for artistic and musical expression, allowing students to develop their creative talents.
Physical Education: Students engage in physical activities, emphasizing health, fitness, and the development of motor skills.
